The Berrien County Cancer Service, Inc. has had the honor of caring for Southwest Michigan’s cancer patients since 1948. We are a unique skilled Oncology nursing service that provides the personal ”one on one” healing touch for cancer patients and those with related illnesses in the comfort of their own home. We are able to do this at no cost because of the generosity of our community and we feel as though we are “neighbors helping neighbors” in a time when they need our special care. In addition to our nursing care services, we have an extensive loan closet of medical equipment and supplies that we offer at no cost; including nutritional supplements and wound management supplies as well as incontinence products. We have a wig/turban boutique and offer breast cancer patients special products as well. We currently offer support groups for education and emotional support and we also attend and support many of our local healthcare fairs. Our services are available to all of those living in Berrien County at this time who have had a cancer or related serious illness as diagnosed by a licensed physician.
HOW WE ARE FUNDED
Our agency is a funded partner of United Way of Southwest Michigan. We are very grateful for the funding that is provided to us by our generous community.
Other important sources of income come from private contributions in the form of memorials, direct contributions from individuals and a large variety of other community stakeholders or estates. Every dollar given to us stays in our community for our community.
Fundraisers may be sponsored by individuals or groups who desire to support our mission of care for our beloved cancer patients or those with serious illnesses. We also sponsor our own fundraisers such as Pennies For Patients™ and the Berrien County Cancer Service Bike Ride. Detailed information regarding these fundraisers may be found on our website.
All of our funds come from local sources. We do not receive any funds from national organizations or the fundraising campaigns of the American Cancer Society, Relay for Life, Easter Seals or similar organizations.
